John Smedley are thrilled to unveil our new official Smedley tartan, inspired by the Maclean of Duart tartan whose descendants, as part of the Smedley family, help to operate the John Smedley business to this day. Formalised with the Scottish Tartan Registry – a government division which records and preserves the heritage of family checks – the Smedley tartan draws from our house colours, in hues of midnight blue, forest green and gold. The John Smedley Corporate Tartan is the first tartan to be unveiled by us in our 237-year history.
This legacy cloth is available as part of our 100% cashmere woven scarves collection. Designed in collaboration with the last remaining artisanal mill in the Highlands, which runs off renewable energy, the yarns were sustainably spun on the edges of Loch Levan by a world-leader in cashmere spinning and then woven in Scotland using certified fibres. From tassel to tassel, The John Smedley Corporate Tartan Cashmere Scarf is fully traceable throughout the localised supply chain.
Iconic in design, luxury in feel, made in Scotland.
