2019 marks the 235th year of John Smedley, the oldest and most iconic still manufacturing knitwear factory in the entire world.

The Legacy Collection garments are a 5 gauge, heavier weight garment featuring a series of traditional cable knits, inspired by the original cable designs seen within our archives from the 1950’s,60’s and 70’s.

The fibres are undyed and showcases the natural colours of our fibres, with each piece having a slight variation in colour. The colour itself being determined by the weather conditions the animal experiences in the year before it is shorn.

The silhouettes offer a classic crew neck and a roll neck, alongside hat and scarf accessories.

The garments also feature our special 235 legacy swing ticket which explains the trace ability of this fibre to the end consumer.

The collection launches at Wool Week, October 2019 at a special event with ambassador Alex James.
