KNITTING MACHINE OPERATIVE

We have recently invested in a number of new machines and have plans for a significant investment in new machines over the next year. We are looking for a factory machine operator to operate our knitting machines.  Our ideal candidate will have experience of working in a factory production environment, however this isn’t essential as we are willing to train candidates with the right skills and attitude.  If you are looking for a new career or to lean a new skill we are looking for people with a good work ethic and a teamwork mentality.  The qualities we are looking for are attention to detail, a willingness to solve problems and pride in your work. You should be eager and willing to learn the operation and basic maintenance and fault finding of machines and can work to a production schedule. This is a shift work role and candidates must be willing to work a combination of days, afternoons and nights over a two- or three-week rota.

YARN STORES OPERATIVE

We currently have a vacancy for an operative to work in our yarn stores.  This successful candidate will work in our yarn stores ensuring that yarn is kept suitably conditioned, stored and supplied for use on the knitting machines. This role involves operating our machines to ensure that the correct yarn is available for use according to a schedule. This is an active and physically demanding role as it requires long periods of standing and includes lifting and moving of yarn. Experience in a yarn store is not necessary as full training will be provided. The successful candidate will need to use computers and hand held scanners as well as be able to work a combination of days and noons shifts (6am-2pm and 2pm-10pm).  A flexible approach to duties and a willingness to help out in other areas of the business is required.

The successful candidate will work as part of a team and will be responsible for the wash and dying of our fine knitwear garments along with learning the dye house process to follow prescriptive recipes to ensure repeatable colours. This is a shift work position so the successful candidate will need to be able to work shifts.  It is a physically demanding role which requires lifting, pushing and standing.  We would welcome applications from candidates who have previous wash and dye house experience, although we would be willing to train candidates without experience if they have the necessary attributes which includes the ability to closely follow written and verbal instructions and the ability to accurately complete paperwork. The successful candidate will be required to work a combination of days and noons shifts (6am-2pm and 2pm-10pm
