- Water is a vital resource and one that we do not take for granted, we need to care for it and keep it clean and free from pollutants.
- Washing is a vital part of our manufacturing process, and we are always striving to reduce our consumption and environmental impact by carefully selecting the chemicals we use.
- All our chemicals and dyes are produced to the highest Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) and Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemical (ZDHC) standards.
- Our water comes from deep within the Peak District in the area around the Chatsworth estate, and filters through Chatworth millstone grit and deeper areas around Kinderscout.
- Our wash area only uses this superior spring water, which does not contain any of the chemicals needed to make it suitable for drinking.
- The spring water is softened to make it consistent for processing and to help remove some unwanted chemical elements that could affect our treatment processes.
- We monitor our water usage and how we discharge our used water to the water treatment plant, which is operated by the local water authority.
- Hot water used by us is recycled to heat our cold-water input therefore using less energy as a result.
- Over the last 10 years we have reduced our water consumption by almost 60%, and with new technology and company investment we will continue to reduce our usage.
