Celebrating their partnered passions for form and construction, John Smedley commissions British Sculptor Guy Haddon Grant to create bespoke artworks for their London retail stores. Join our artist in residence at the Jermyn store on Friday 20th October, as we celebrate the unveiling of our collaborative artworks.

Inspired by the machine beds, and movement of both needle and yarn seen at John Smedley’s iconic factory site in Lea Mills, Derbyshire, Guy Haddon Grant has created abstract steel art works alongside figurative line drawings to demonstrate the constant movement and creation of knitwear constructions. The sculptures are both industrial and delicately beautiful all at once, and harmonise the juxtaposition of heavy industrial machinery crafting the finest of knitwear garments.

“As a British brand dedicated to our own form of craftsmanship, it is a pleasure to invite like minded, passionate artists to collaborate with us”
– Jess Mcguire-Dudley
Marketing & Design Director at John Smedley
