The turnback cuff offers a supremely elegant finish to a carefully selected range of John Smedley garments. This classic feature completes garments from both menswear and womenswear collections. Rather than being knitted separately and sewn on to the sleeve afterwards, the turnback cuff is knitted as an intrinsic part of the sleeve. It is crafted at our Lea Mills factory in Derbyshire, where it is later pressed and steamed to ensure that its shape is held. John Smedley’s turn back cuff features a line of stitching on the outside of the cuff so when it is folded back the stitch cannot be seen – this provides a sleek, polished look. John Smedley’s turnback cuff gives the opportunity for you to fold the cuff back to your desired length to establish a look that is perfect for every individual.
John Smedley’s turnback cuff originally featured in our Menswear ‘Heritage’ collection – Isis, Finchley, Dorset and Richards. The heritage collection has a distinctly classic feel to it; providing traditionally designed garments with modern connotations. The turnback cuff compliments this style exquisitely. More recently the turnback cuff has featured on Marcus – our Extra Fine Merino crew neck men’s jumper, Bobby – our iconic V-neck pullover and Bower – our high V-neck pullover. Additionally it has been included on 2.Singular: our first ever unisex T-shirt. In AW16 the turnback cuff was an incredibly popular design – featuring on three new womenswear garments: Jeanie, Chinta and Mayhew.
