In Hollywood and beyond, those with discerning style rely on John Smedley for inimitable pieces that last the test of time.

From Audrey Hepburn to The Beatles, Marilyn Monroe and every James Bond on film to today’s iconic actors, creatives and musicians, our fashion industry is unparalleled. It is the brand of choice for innovative, sophisticated and confident style.

The pieces in the Icons collection are as timeless as the legends who wear them, each piece is unwaveringly modern, with an irresistibly classic edge- symbols of our longstanding reputation for modern yet timeless style.

From design to first stitch, each single John Smedley piece is made in England. Each garment is brought to life in the our factory in Derbyshire, founded in 1784, producing knits for 230 years. This is British fashion with an unequaled heritage and quality.

More than 50 British craftsmen work on each single John Smedley piece. Cotton, silk and wool of the highest quality are carefully selected before each garment is created with more than 20 bespoke design processes. 1.5 kilometres of the finest yarns, 1.2 million perfect stitches, and the skilled hands of 50 British craftsmen.

Our reputation as the creator of the World’s Finest Knitwear can be ascribed to our commitment to this quality. The dedication we have to craftsmanship is what marks this out and is why Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II granted us the Royal Warrant of appointment as a ‘Manufacturer of Fine Knitwear’.

Quintessentially English, innately innovative and beautifully classic with the Icons collection, we maintain our status as one of the most iconic British clothing brands in the world.

Shot in the British countryside featuring our own bespoke music track by British artist Sadie Brown, our Modern Icons campaign captures a true love story.
