New Zealand
Merino Wool
Read MoreJohn Smedley's extra-fine New Zealand Merino wool is specially bred by selected wool growers on the alpine pastures of the South Island. It's a soft, sumptuous yarn that's naturally warm, comfortable and easy to maintain. In 1995 we began a unique sourcing programme with a specially selected number of wool growers in New Zealand which we still maintain today. It means we can trace our knitwear and control its provenance.

The Importance
of Provenance
Read MoreJohn Smedley continues to expand and innovate. Our latest collections are some of our best ever and we continue to break new ground. However, we only move forward by understanding and holding on to the importance of provenance. That applies to John Smedley as a company and the garments we create. It helps make us who we are and reminds us of our commitment to creating only the highest quality collections.

Our Lea Mills factory is at the heart of a world heritage site, which means we have a responsibility to the local environment. We source ethically produced materials, engage with our employees and use energy saving techniques wherever possible. Creating knitwear via a responsible, socially aware process is important both to us and all John Smedley customers. That's why in 2009 we commissioned an environmental audit as part of our commitment to improving the way we work.
