At John Smedley we're known for high quality knitwear and a rich 225-year heritage. We're a luxury brand with roots in the Derbyshire countryside and garments regularly featured in some of the world's most prestigious fashion magazines.
Though our past helps make us who we are, it's our design and innovation that keeps us at the forefront of contemporary fashion. With our newly released Autumn/Winter 2011 collection we have much to look forward to, including our Spring/Summer 2012 collection and an exclusive Capsule collection. There's plenty in store for the year ahead.
This season reassesses a woman’s wardrobe. Styles are organised and compartmentalised into categories and fits whilst considering simplicity and luxury as key definers. The collection groups into neat, regular and one size as our key areas of fit.
Themes of ‘off-duty chic: a collection of tailored items with relaxed styles’ and ‘luxe leisure: fabric diversity with sports inspiration to create effortless chic’, to inform this season’s styling. This season we offer eight key melange colours adding a new depth to the seasonal palette.
SPRING/SUMMER 2012
This season, John Smedley’s Sea Island Cotton is once again centre stage. It’s been the material of choice for the Spring Summer season for many decades, because of its unique and luxurious feel.
For men, long-sleeved styles with differing necklines are easy fit and can be layered with pre-collection transitional styles at the start of the season. For women, long-sleeved slim fit classics to brand new welted styles, with slash and rounded v-necks means sweaters and cardigan styles in medium weight layer well with spring core collection styles.
The Spring Summer 2012 colour palette is calm and neutral, majoring on White, Pumice, Ice Cream and Silver. These cool colours mix well with classic shades like Mocha, Charcoal, Indigo and Navy and are especially complementary with lighter tones such as Macaroon Pink and Blue Celeste.

Autumn/Winter 2011 sees the launch of a beautifully crafted women’s Capsule Collection of luxurious winter knits and voluminous silhouettes.
Re-defining John Smedley Womenswear this season sees a fusion of technology and refined styling in a capsule collection of statement pieces, which challenge traditional design through the use of the John Smedley whole garment machines, which knit each garment as one unique piece.

Award Winners
Over the years we've won several industry accolades and much recognition for our design and innovation. They include a UK Fashion Export Awards Golf award for long-standing export excellence and the trophy for best Heritage Brand. We are also winners of the Regional Family Business Award at the Coutts Awards.

Our beautiful range of accessories complements our knitwear lines perfectly. Our autumn '11 Collection features subtle highlight shades running through our selection of scarves and socks, whilst our spring'12 Collection features a vibrant palette in the form of scarves and wraps.
