Design
At John Smedley we're known for high quality knitwear and a rich 225-year heritage. We're a luxury brand with roots in the Derbyshire countryside and garments regularly featured in some of the world's most prestigious fashion magazines.
Though our past helps make us who we are, it's our design and innovation that keeps us at the forefront of contemporary fashion. With our newly released Spring/Summer 2012 collection we have much to look forward to, including our Autumn/Winter 2012 collection and an exclusive Capsule collection. There's plenty in store for the year ahead.

This season, John Smedley’s Sea Island Cotton is once again centre stage. It’s been the material of choice for the Spring Summer season for many decades, because of its unique and luxurious feel.
For men, long-sleeved styles with differing necklines are easy fit and can be layered with pre-collection transitional styles at the start of the season. For women, long-sleeved slim fit classics to brand new welted styles, with slash and rounded v-necks means sweaters and cardigan styles in medium weight layer well with spring core collection styles.
The Spring Summer 2012 colour palette is calm and neutral, majoring on White, Pumice, Ice Cream and Silver. These cool colours mix well with classic shades like Mocha, Charcoal, Indigo and Navy and are especially complementary with lighter tones such as Macaroon Pink and Blue Celeste.
AUTUMN/WINTER 2012
With a diamond jubilee and the London Olympics, 2012 is set to be a Great British year. To celebrate John Smedley’s proud history as a leading British manufacturer since 1784, the Autumn Winter 2012 campaign carries the strap line “Representing Great Britain”.
To continue the 20 Truths theme from Autumn Winter 2011, the collections identify strengths in colour, style and attention to detail. In addition, John Smedley is introducing a sports inspired range. The collection takes functional pieces and adds a subtle twist of sophistication with contrast trimmings and metal buttons. Vibrant and exciting pieces will carry a modernist logo, a mark of quality that was first introduced to a range of men’s polo shirts in 1934. The red, white and blue theme identifies us as rooted in Great Britain, where our garments have been made since 1784.
