At John Smedley we're known for high quality knitwear and a rich 225-year heritage. We're a luxury brand with roots in the Derbyshire countryside and garments regularly featured in some fo the world's most prestigious fashion magazines.
Though our past helps make us who we are, it's our design and innovation that keeps us at the forefront of contemporary fashion. With our newly released Spring/Summer 2010 collection, Autumn Winter 2010 on the horizon and the launch of John Smedley 13.5, there's plenty in store for the year ahead.
John Smedley Spring/Summer 2010 Collection
We're extremely proud of our newly released Spring/Summer 2010 collection. We're calling it 'A collection for all seasons' because of its sheer variety and stunning combinations. For the first time, this season the collection includes Merino wool in a great range of fresh spring colours for cooler climes and layering, and new cotton styles in cool mercerised and crepe cotton for when the warmer weather arrives.
The Women's range uses fresh, innovative pattern knits, whilst the Men's range features some truly special pieces that boast a whole new level of detail. We've also introduced Jersey pieces for layering and a tailored collection for men created with the same attention to detail and exceptional quality of our main range.
Autumn/Winter 2010
Autumn/Winter 2010 is shaping up to be our best collection yet. Our womenswear collection is all about the silhouette with shape and outline softened with a drape, a fold or tactile texture. The collection blends a colourful edge with a new elegant and androgynous take on women’s knitwear. The collection is contemporary and confident with optimistic brights and in-depth, rich jewel colours mixed with a palette of warm neutrals.
Our menswear collection draws inspiration from the personality of ‘The Archivist.’ Exploring the concept of a ‘collection’ in all its guises, the range blends well-loved pieces with future classics to create a textural and colourful anthology reminiscent of a passionately compiled archive. These will be timeless pieces to collect and to treasure.

As good as it gets
- John Smedley 13.5
Our limited edition John Smedley 13.5 collection takes fine knitwear to a new level. These garments are made from 13.5 micron Merino wool, produced by just 0.0013% of the world's sheep population. It's extremely rare and incredibly fine.
Ethically produced by our New Zealand wool growers, 13.5 micron wool requires technlogy and craft to become something beautiful. The John Smedley 13.5 collection is exclusive to our Brook Street store in London and our online shop.

Award Winners
Over the years we've won several industry accolades and much recognition for our design and innovation. They include a UK Fashion Export Awards Golf award for long-standing export excellence and the trophy for best Heritage Brand. We are also winners of the Regional Family Business Award at the Coutts Awards.
The 225 Underwear
Collection
This year, as part of our 225-year anniversary celebrations, we launched a new collection of fine underwear for women and men that sees us return to our origins. Back when we started out as a knitwear manufacturer, our underwear was what we were known for. These garments are made from pure natural fibres, with the craft and skill of generations.
