All three styles feature fully fashioned shoulders, a mark of quality which produces a superior fit and rib cuff and hems which allow the garments to fit perfectly around the body and wrist whilst giving the garment an iconic knitted finish. Striped

07th February 2011 | Design, General, Retail | Leave a comment

A trend that is massive for Spring/Summer 2011, the stripe. Wide, thin, horizontal, vertical, the stripe is sure to dominate every wardrobe for the forthcoming season. Autumn/Winter saw this season’s bestseller Iggy, a graded colour stipe that flew off the shelves. Applicable to both womenswear and menswear, Spring/Summer is stripetastic.

From red carpet stripes to casual chic, Spring/Summer will not dissapoint with John Smedley offering modest stiped cuffs to all striped sweaters in a beautiful array of colours. There’s a stripe on offer for all body shapes and silhouettes with the position of the stripe vital, seen to conture the body and flatter.

Colourful stripes create a fun, youthful look. Ladies, a playful way to incoperate this trend is mixing a thick stripe with dots for a true 70’s vibe whilst thinner stripes offer a simplistic, clean look. Why not incooperate a contrast in stripe, thin horizontal next to dominant stripes for massive visual impact.

This trend is sure to brighten up anyones wardrobe and there is longevity to this look. Stripes have already stood the test of the time, appearing season upon season so invest in your signature stripe.

In November’s issue of the Shortlist, John Smedley’s roll necks feature under various blazers. You can read the article online here. Seen in Cream and Charcoal, these pullovers are the ideal accompaniment to create the perfect retro style look. This is a wardrobe must have and the combination of classic pieces teamed together to create fresh new looks is perfect. (Especially when we’re trying to be good on shopping treats on the run up to Christmas!) Inspired by Dustin Hoffman in the Graduate you’re sure to look the business in this classic style. If this look isn’t for you, why not team your roll neck with your favourite leather flying jacket for a take on this season’s aviator trend.

What else would Jeff Goldblum choose to wear for a photoshoot in  the latest edition of Harpers Bazaar? Modelling our “Spyder” pullover, the dressed down look with denim works great. Spyder is a great choice for those who love soft and comfortable knitwear, the ultra fine New Zealand merino wool is simply the best there is! The question is, who is cooler? The John Smedley pullover, or Jeff himself? We’ll let you decide!
