Another colour we are enthused about is red. Spring/Summer 2011 gives you ‘Poppy’ John Smedley’s bright red.
Colours we’ve spoke about in previous blogs include Orange and Blue, work beautifully when teamed with red. Seen on the catwalk from designers DKNY and Derek Lam, the latter saw a stunning combination of duke blue and red in harmony. Blues create balance when worn together as the blue, tones down the intensity of red. Alternatively red next to orange, our take ‘Orange Spice’ offers a stylish, warm outfit that oozes chic. Working with last season’s colour, ‘Caramel’ Red can instantly update your look.
For a less intense look, pink can be a safer option or when used appropriately, red used as a highlight colour in smaller amounts.

Think feminine, delicate and true elegance. Soft nude tones sit alongside muted blues providing the perfect backdrop for any summer outfit. In contrast to other Spring/Summer ‘11 trends where blocks of colour dominate outfits, the neutral colour palette makes this look highly wearable carrying you through future seasons. In keeping with the 70’s romantic vibe this season, combinations of different fabrics, think lace and crochet create the most elegant look.

All over lace detail is in-sync with the nightwear trend that has been seen on the catwalks. Our range of crepe cotton is light and lacy to keep you cool in the heat – perfect for sitting out in the sunshine with an ice-cold drink.

This beautiful colour is big news for Spring/Summer. This trend has been seen in lipsticks through to lingerie. A combination of red and yellow, orange holds similar characteristics; it carries the heat of red without the aggression, and the uplifting nature of yellow. Perfect for this time of year, orange is a popular choice to wear on the cusp of winter, beginning of summer with heat on the way.
If you’re looking for an inexpensive way to reinvent your wardrobe, colour is the easiest way to enliven any basics. Seen as a warm colour, wear when hanging out with your friends as orange is a creative, sociable colour. This season try ‘Clementine’ and ‘Orange Spice’ to add energy to your outfit. Beautiful when worn with earthy colours such as ‘Gluhwein’ and ‘Midnight’, this accent colour is sure to give you that extra boost of energy you need when taking on the day.

Bright neon’s are massive for Spring/Summer 11. We can’t wait for next season and can promise that the John Smedley colour palette and its array of colours will not disappoint.
Acid, Banana and Ultramarine are a few colours that will bring sunshine to your wardrobe. Worn against neutrals, these POP colours work brilliantly worn over your favourite shirt or underneath your trusty jacket.
A mixture of neutral and vivid colours compliment opposing seasons. Brights will liven any Winter outfit in contrast to soft, neutral tones that aim to balance. The simple structure to the garments allow the focus to be on the bright colours, making this look highly wearable.
Colour blocking is huge for Spring/Summer 11 and what better way to wear the trend than with John Smedley.

Forget about the clocks going back and the night’s drawing in, this season is all about colour. The catwalks have been full of it, with block colouring harking back to one of John Smedley’s favourite eras, the 60’s. We were delighted to see a caramel ‘Geranium’ featured in Glamour, a colour we have fallen in love with and previously blogged about. Teamed with your favourite coloured accessories, where better to turn to for assistance with this trend but John Smedley. My new best friend
I purchased one of the new styles
Spica in Bluebird, a couple of weeks ago, and wore it for the first time last Friday with some leggings. I had many people complimenting me on the style and colour as I walked around the factory and also later on when I was out shopping. It’s an easy style to just throw on and instantly get the wow factor!
